Its been 11 years since we began our journey my dear Finnian. It was on the 9th of December 2004 we were told you had what looked like a stroke. Our journey with special doctors began all before you were born. You were only given a 40% chance at life and if by some grace you survived birth you probably wouldn't see your second birthday. You proved them wrong my little warrior. Mind you we had some touch and go moments but you pulled through. I don't know how many times you have left doctors scratching their heads in things that you do because with everything they know you shouldn't be able to anything.
Our biggest battle is with the seizure monster we just cannot seem to tame that beast. Even with medications we just seem to calm it down and then shit hits the fan and we have to start over again. You will be going in to the hospital again next week for a few days to see how the monster is behaving. They also want to check out to see if the "issues" are from seizures or if its from your tummy. I know you will more than likely be on your best behavior.
The good points this year you are using "yes" and "no" more. You got an amazing gift of a tricycle and the best is you can pedal it all on your own. That is a huge accomplishment, mobility, something they said you would never be able to do. Let's keep proving them wrong gasúr.
You competed again this year in the Special Spartans race. We had hoped to get you as many as we could but for a change it wasn't you that stopped us but your Dad's cancer diagnoses. The one positive thing that has come out from all of this is you my little man got to spend quality time hanging out with your Daddy. I think you are becoming Daddy's boy now and not my little lad because Daddy lets you get away with everything and I don't.
Even though the summer was a rough one with all the appointments between you and Daddy I took a big leap of faith and started you on a blended diet. I got great support from Weronika and Jennifer @BlenderizedRN and you now only eat real food no more formula. You have finally started growing and putting on weight. We have found that you love lentil soup and eggs don't agree with you. Your tummy wasn't liking the soy formula anymore but we have found that goat's milk does agree with you and so does coconut milk.
We all ready know that you will be having a surgery on your right hip next year and you will probably have to have your g-tube revision surgery done. Hopefully you will have a quick and painless recovery from both surgeries.
We took you to see Santa and you were so excited to see him. Even Eoghan and Maurs got their picture taken with you and Santa.
We have great plans for next year my little man and fingers crossed all goes well and we can do all we plan to do.
Love Mammy
